Meet Tatyana
For Tatyana, music has never been simply a profession. It has been a lifelong journey—one shaped by discipline, performance, travel, culture, and the joy of helping others discover their own musical abilities.
Born in Ukraine, Tatyana began studying music at an early age and continued her education at the prestigious Kyiv Conservatory. She earned her degree in both music education and performance, developing the knowledge and technical foundation that would guide her throughout her career as a pianist and teacher.
After completing her studies, Tatyana traveled around the world with a professional ballet troupe. As the troupe’s pianist, she accompanied dancers during performances while also appearing in concerts as a solo pianist. These experiences allowed her to perform for audiences in many countries and gain a deeper appreciation for the connection between music, culture, and storytelling.
Over time, Tatyana felt increasingly drawn to teaching. She discovered that sharing her knowledge and helping students develop confidence at the piano was just as rewarding as performing on stage.
A New Chapter in America
In the early months of 2000, Tatyana came to the United States and continued building her life around music. Along with teaching private students, she continued to perform as a member of a trio called European Impressions. The group featured Tatyana on piano, her son on violin, and a fellow music teacher on flute.
Together, they performed a rich selection of classical, European, and American music, bringing their combined experience and passion to audiences throughout the community.
Around this time, Tatyana fulfilled another lifelong dream by becoming a church organist, a musical calling she continues to pursue to this day.
Her Teaching Philosophy
Today, Tatyana brings decades of international education, performance, and teaching experience to every lesson at Private Piano Lessons by Tatyana.
Her approach is rooted in traditional instruction and a belief that students should learn much more than how to press the correct keys. During each lesson, Tatyana introduces students to music theory, technique, composers, and musical history. She explains the meaning, background, and cultural setting behind every piece a student learns, helping the music come alive in a memorable and personal way.
This thoughtful approach keeps lessons engaging and enjoyable while giving students a deeper understanding of the music they perform. Students learn how to read, interpret, and appreciate music while building strong technical habits that can support a lifetime of playing.
Whether a student is beginning their first lesson or continuing years of musical study, Tatyana provides patient, knowledgeable, and personalized instruction. Her goal is not only to teach students how to play the piano, but also to help them understand the language, history, and beauty of music.
